Mr. Rogers Memories

Alabama Public Television is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the national premiere of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood this year, and right now we're collecting memories of Fred Rogers from Alabama viewers. Whether you watched Mister Rogers' Neighborhood as a child or with your child - or perhaps both - we'd like to hear what this long-running program meant to you.  Share Your Memory Now and we'll share the memories on air, on our website and on APT's Facebook and Twitter pages.

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood debuted on public television nationwide on Feb. 19, 1967 and is recognized as one of the most influential children's television programs in history. More than two generations of children grew up watching the program, and Fred Rogers' influence continues in several PBS Kids programs today, including Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. During the week of Feb. 26-March 2, APT will broadcast a series of Daniel Tiger episodes at 8:30am followed by the original Mister Roger's Neighborhood episodes on which they were based.

On Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00pm, APT will premiere a new primetime television special about Fred Rogers, Mister Rogers: It's You I Like, hosted by one-time Neighborhood stagehand Michael Keaton. A new documentary about the life and work of Rogers is set for theaters in June and will be broadcast on APT later in 2018. And just recently, it was announced that Tom Hanks will play the title role in a movie about Fred Rogers.
