Screening Events

Alabama Public Television is working with partners in several cities around the state to offer screening events for Ken Burns' and Lynn Novick's epic new documentary series THE VIETNAM WAR. The preview itself will last approximately one hour. Some events will include panel discussions or feature additional activities.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center
Tuesday, August 15 at  Noon, 2:00pm & 6:00pm
Screenings of the documentary preview will be shown to museum guests at 12:00 noon and 2:00pm and are open to the public. In the evening, there will be a ticketed screening at 6:00pm that will include refreshments. Reception and cash bar 5:00 – 7:00pm.

Alabama Department of Archives and History
Tuesday, August 22 at 6:00pm
The ADAH will host a free preview screening in its Joseph M. Farley Alabama Power Auditorium. Recently acquired artifacts and records related to the experiences of Alabamians during the Vietnam War from the ADAH collection will be on display at the event. Light refreshments will be served.

Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities
Tuesday, August 29 at 6:00pm
Auburn University
The Draughon Center will host a screening. For the second hour, they will convene a panel of veterans moderated by Dr. Blake Busbin, who has coordinated interviews for the Library of Congress Veterans Oral History Project.

Southern Museum of Flight
Sunday, September 10 at 1:30pm
The Southern Museum of Flight will host a free screening. The museum will open to the public at 1:30pm, and the program begins at 2pm. After the screening, the museum will host a panel discussion called VIETNAM WAR REFLECTION. It will feature veterans, historians and community leaders discussing their experiences during the war, upon coming home, and in leadership today.

THE VIETNAM WAR premieres Sept. 17-21 and Sept. 24-28.
